Protecting your personal information is important to us. In the following, we describe what kind of personal information we collect and for what purposes we process and use such data.
You may end the collection, processing and use of your personal data at any time by uninstalling the app. Data stored by Apple in the HomeKit database and SmartThings, Arlo, Ring or Google Nest on their servers will not be deleted.
We will not process and use your data for advertising. Data is not shared with third parties, except to the extent mentioned below.
The following data is collected when you use the app: user information such as name, email address and phone number as provided by the user, access credentials for device controllers (hubs) such as SmartThings as provided by the user, device information as obtained from the connected hubs and preferences as defined by the user. If location data for a home cannot be obtained from a hub, the location information of the mobile device that configures the first hub of that home at the time of configuration will be stored as the home location.
As an option, also the Wi-Fi SSID of mobile devices on which the Switch app is running, may be collected, processed and used in order control devices based on your presence at a home.
The following data is collected when you use this website: user name and email address as provided by the user if the user sends a message using the contact form.
Data on your Device
The information is processed on your phone and preferences, configuration data and device information other than the device status are stored on your phone. No email, phone or password information is stored on the device.
Transmission of Data
The information is transmitted to our AWS servers in Germany and Ireland. Static user, home, device and configuration data as well as anonymous device logging information will be stored in AWS databases and on on AWS file servers in Germany and Ireland. For the communication of device status updates, push notifications may be sent to your phone through push notification services of Amazon, Apple or Google.
If you control devices through Apple HomeKit, anonymous device information including device status information is transmitted between Apple and Switch.
If you control devices through a SmartThings hub with Switch, anonymous device information including device status information and hub location information is transmitted between SmartThings and Switch.
If you control Arlo devices with Switch, anonymous device information including device status information and location information is transmitted between Arlo and Switch.
If you control Ring devices with Switch, anonymous device information including device status information is transmitted from Ring to Switch.
If you control Google Nest devices with Switch, anonymous device information including device status information is transmitted between Google and Switch. Switch use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
All of the above information transmissions are limited to the scope necessary to provide the service, features and functionality as selected or requested by the user in order to provide the Switch service and allow the Switch app to work.
The app uses Apple App Analytics, an analysis service of Apple and Firebase Crashlytics, an analysis service of Google. These services capture and analyze app usage data and crash reports from the phone For this purpose, selected actions are transmitted encrypted and pseudonymized to Apple and Google during the use of the app in order to analyze the general user behavior with regard to efficiency, similar viewing modes and app crashes, and to draw conclusions on the continuous improvement of the app as part of the evaluation.
This website does not use any analytics service and no personal information will be used for any analytics purposes.
